Accessibility Information

We hope that this information will be helpful for navigating our primary venues and accommodating a wide range of access needs! Because all of our seating is general admission, that means seating is first-come, first-served, but we ask our guests to help us reserve accessible seating for those using wheelchairs, strollers, or mobility aids. These are generally available at the ends of rows and in the front and rear rows of venues and will be marked with “Reserved for Accessible Seating” signage.

Brief directions and parking info, including campus maps and photos, is available on our Directions & Parking page. That information is repeated below, with the addition of a detailed description of each venue and its entrances, seating, and restrooms.

If you have specific requests for accessibility accommodations, please contact us via our web form, or by emailing Executive Director Andrea Luke at manager@raleighsymphony.org or calling or texting (919) 546-9755.

Health & Safety Overview

According to Meredith College’s campus COVID-19 policy, masks are always permitted and even encouraged but are optional in indoor spaces on campus. Guests may choose whether or not they wish to wear a mask, and a limited supply of masks will be available at the door. No social distancing is currently in effect.

Artists, staff, and volunteers are not currently required to wear masks.

Jones Auditorium: Entrances & Parking

Jones Auditorium’s main entrance is accessible from the north end of Main Campus Drive, off of the circle that goes around the fountain. There is a curb-less drop off area paved by bricks that leads to a few short stairs (a ramp is available to the left) into the three, double-door main auditorium entrances. The Box Office is in the auditorium lobby.

Accessible parking for Jones Auditorium is located across the street in Lot 1.

jones Auditorium: Seating and restrooms

The Jones Auditorium floor is carpeted and slopes downward toward the front of the stage. There is additional seating in a balcony above, but this is only accessible from stairs in the lobby.

Seating is general admission (choose your own seats). All chairs are folding, cushioned seats with armrests. There are empty spaces towards the back of the first section reserved for wheelchairs, powerchairs, walkers, or rollators. Accessible seating is reserved at the ends of marked rows in the front of both main sections. In this case, accessible seating is either the open space next to the last seat, or the last seat of the row.

Main Restrooms: from the lobby there is a flight of stairs on either side of the room (women’s to the left, men’s to the right). There will be a door at the bottom of either set of stairs; each restroom is immediately next to the door, before the several last steps down to the ground floor.

  • Single-occupancy accessible restroom with support rails: From inside the auditorium, proceed toward the stage on the RIGHT side. Exit through the door to the right of the stage, turn left, and proceed down the hallway alongside the stage to find the restroom on the left.

  • An additional, multiple-occupancy women’s restroom and a water fountain are down the hallway to the left of the accessible restroom.
